Racers and Friends:
Thank you all for making the 44th annual Milt Ingram Trophy Race one of the best in recent memory. The weather was it’s ornery self; not like the predictions of early in the week and not like Friday’s predictions either. In the end, there was enough wind to get everyone finished before sundown.
It was great to see so many exuberant folks back at the club. You may have severely depleated the soup and chili, but there is still alcohol at the bar.
Congratulations to the “official” winners: CIRRUS in the A class, TONKA in the B class, VELERO in Non-spin, AKUA KAI in ORCA, and the Vazquez brothers who were 1st and 2nd in Beach Cats. The overall Winner was VELERO.
Hope to see you all on August 10th for the final race of the 2024 Island Series, the Tri-point Ocean Race. Trophies for each of the 3 races plus the Series will be awarded on Sunday, August 11th.
Study up on your navigation skills because there will be another Navigation Challenge. In fact, you can practice on yesterday’s challenge by clicking on www.pbyc.org/navigate.
Here are the results of Saturday’s race.
The Race Committee at PBYC’s end had a great time yesterday watching the progress of those with AIS on 1 big screen and the harbor’s web cam of the entrance on the other big screen. We thank SBSC’s crack crew for starting the race and the BBQ team on Friday evening.
Thanks also to PBYC’s finishing crews and the wonderful folks who laid out a groaning spread of food.
But, most of all, we thank you, the participants for coming. Twenty registered and 16 started.
The Navigation Challenge will result in an overall prize for the complete set of Island Series Races, so please keep participating. Current Standing: #1. Orange, #2. Catnip, #3. Akua Kai
