As we steer toward Opening Day, the energy at Pierpont Bay Yacht Club has been nothing short of inspiring. The past weeks were filled with preparation, camaraderie, and the kind of hands-on commitment that keeps our club afloat—both literally and figuratively
A weekend ago, we were treated to an extended presentation by Maggie Wood, who shared her incredible journey to Costa Rica. If you missed it, you missed a gem—but don’t worry, that treasure trove of 1,100 photos and videos isn’t going anywhere. Maggie will be joining us for future general meetings, so you’ll have another chance to come aboard that adventure.
Club Scrub was a true team effort—Jeff and Michelle Cowan tackled the Galley and windows, Andy Fried took on the floor like a true deckhand, and Andy Killian and Jeff Olmstead were everywhere we needed them. Special thanks to Jeff Heath, who installed a brand-new Osmosis filtration system for our drinking water. Clean decks, clear windows, and fresh water—we’re well on our way.
This past weekend we had a great race, see our Racing Report and we also had an opening day that was one for the books! Thanks to all for coming out and also keeping the club neat and ready!
With Openinging Day on Saturday, the sails are being trimmed and the course is set. If you’re not sure of the difference between the two, come visit and find out—we promise it’ll be worth the trip.
We’re nearly ready to launch a new season. Thanks to all who continue to make this voyage possible.
Commodore Verharen at your service!
