NOTICE OF RACE
The Pierpont Bay Yacht Club invites you join us for the 2024 Spring Series which will consist of three coastal races with no throw-outs. The finish will be at the Mandalay mark. Racers will take and report their finish times to the RC.
DATES:
- Race #1: Saturday, February 17, 2024
- Race #2: Saturday, March 9, 2024
- Race #3: Saturday, March 23, 2024
TIME: The start signal for the first class is scheduled for 1100 hours on each race day.
COURSE: The course will be chosen from the 2024 PBYC Spring Series Course Chart. Course lengths vary from 5 to 21 miles. All starts and finishes will be in the vicinity of the Mandalay buoy.
CLASSES: PHRF-handicapped spinnaker and non-spinnaker classes, and an ORCA-handicapped class will be formed with class breaks determined by entries. All boats shall carry the safety equipment specified by the U.S. Safety Equipment Requirements for Nearshore Races: https://www.ussailing.org/wpcontent/uploads/2023/03/Monohull-SER-2023.0-Nearshore.pdf; for monohulls, and

In addition, lifeline requirements 2.4.1 – 2.4.8 apply with the exception that coated lifelines are permitted. PHRF area A Random Leg Course handicaps will be used. Regardless of class, PHRF-handicapped boats are required to have a current PHRF certificate by March 9, 2024 to be eligible for series trophies.

The Sailing Instructions will be available through Regatta Network. The entry fee for the series is $90 ($80 for USSA members), and the entry fee for individual races is $35 ($30 for USSA members).
TROPHIES: Series trophies will be awarded after the last race at PBYC.

Competitors in this event are participating entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. Racers release, PBYC, their officers, agents, committee persons, and sponsors from any and all liability for any illness, injury to crew, or damage to vessel arising out of participating in this event to the extent that such release does not discharge the racer’s insurance carrier under the provisions of the insurance policies on the vessel. The racers assume any risk of illness, injury or death arising out of participating in this event, failure or breakage of the vessel or any of its equipment, or weather conditions.
INSURANCE: Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum coverage of $300,000 per incident or the equivalent.
