Surfrider Foundation Program Presentation, March 16th

The Surfrider Foundation is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s ocean, waves and beaches through a powerful activist network. The Foundation was started in Malibu, California in 1984 by a handful of surfers to protest threats to their local surf break at Malibu Point. The organization continued on for several years as a loose advocacy group until 1991, when the first chapters were founded (including the Ventura County Chapter). At that point the Surfrider Foundation transitioned into a grassroots activist organization. The Surfrider Foundation includes over 250,000 supporters, activists and members, and 100 grassroots chapters worldwide including North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania. The United States is home to 81 chapters and 85 clubs. The Ventura County Chapter’s campaigns, programs and volunteer opportunities can be found at ventura.surfrider.org. An overview of those campaigns and programs will be presented at Pierpont Bay Yacht Club’s membership meeting on March 16th.

Again, thank you for your interest and support,
